As far as I know, nothing in our charter prevents us attaching ourselves to
another organization. Of course, nothing permits us to do so, either. That
said, I would be interested in hearing from more people on this list. I
have mixed feelings about it myself. Of course, that is mainly due to me
not knowing any of the people from PC3. Unless things change in the near
future, I'm not likely to be able to attend any of their meetings (all on
weekday evenings). Yeah, working 2nd shift stinks, but that's my job.
Again, I want to hear from more CharLUG folks. I will bring it up at the
next Saturday morning meeting as well. Maybe I can get an opportunity to
meet with some PC3 folks (can they attend a Saturday morning meeting?).
If there are issues with the charter, I think we can work around those - it
will be a matter of amending it, as necessary to make it possible. Those
are my thoughts.
Come to think of it, I'm not sure how well I know Pat - I think we had a
conversation about GNU/Linux a few years back, about the time I was writing
my first essay on FOSS and churches. iirc, he then held the position that
GNU/Linux was not ready for the desktop. And, incidentally, I was using
SUSE Linux 8.0 Pro as a desktop OS at that time. ;-) But I may be
confusing him with someone else.
Regards,
Don
