[Charlug] Advice for graphics tablet

I am thinking about getting a graphics tablet, probably 8x12 or 
thereabouts, for inputting drawings and some relatively lightweight 
CAD/CAM work. From what I have seen by searching, Wacom tablets are 
fairly well supported under Linux. I don't know whether to get the usb 
or the older serial interface. Does anybody have any experience with 
either type of interface, or with other tablets that have Linux support?
