I am not the voice of experience or wisdom on your query, but I would recommend that you download CentOS 4.5 (or 5.0), and become familiar with the operation of RHEL by getting your hands dirty. Just common sense. Good luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prepare for RHCT / RHCE exam? (Red Hat Certified Tech and RHC Engineer) Any good books, study guides, courses?
Long version:
While working at my previous job, I had a chance to work with 3 different network OS' - Novell Netware, Windows 2000/2003 and Linux. I found Linux to be most attractive and "compatible" with the way my brain works, so I decided to make Linux administration my lifelong career. While there are a few certifications out there (Linux+, LPI, SUSE, Red Hat) it seems that Red Hat is the one most commonly requested by employers (at least on Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com.) Am I correct on this?
I've been working with Linux for a couple of years and have a decent knowledge of the command line tools, config files, etc. Most of my experience is with Debian however and I really need to work on my scripting skills.
Has anyone taken or knows someone who has taken a Red Hat test? Would you recommend a different test? Do you have any tips on preparing for it?
Thank you very much in advance.
