[Charlug] missing sequencer device

I have the following devices in /dev/snd:

There is apparently supposed to be a seq device, but there 
isn't. /proc/asound/devices says this:
  4: [0- 0]: hardware dependent
  8: [0- 0]: raw midi
 16: [0- 0]: digital audio playback
 24: [0- 0]: digital audio capture
  0: [0- 0]: ctl
 33:       : timer
It's a CS4821. Can you help me get it working? The PCM does work, and I've 
played MIDI with Timidity, which turns it into a stream of samples.
