Guys,
I agree as someone who has been around the group for quite some time.
Participating periodically at best. Somehow we need to drive people to the
meetings. I think it would be beneficial to try to tie into things like the
Charlotte Chamber and let them know about our meetings. Many small business
owners want to know about Linux as tey are tired of paying money to the man
(Bill Gates). Can we get press in the Business Journal, Charlotte Observer,
other local/regional magazines. Also I think we need to work with the
surrounding LUGS to work on scheduling high profile speakers. Lets work
together with them. Also has anyone been in touch with the TriLUG guys as
they have one of the largest LUGS in the world last time I checked...course
it does help that they are located on NCSU's campus. Can we get any of the
folks from say Bank of America/Wachovia/Cisco/etc to help sponsor our event
by supplying food or old systems (old to them not us). Lets think out of
the box and really try to attack the area as we can.
Our website looks great but let the community help us, and then we can turn
around and help them by using Linux. See if the Chamber can help us promote
our events, training, speakers, etc. In return we could put a link to their
website on ours.
Do we have anyone in charge of PR?...This person would probably need to
understand a little about Marketing.
Just my comments, nothing to remember here :)

only time they never see it is when they are looking in the mirror. -
